There’s not much new this week. We arrived in Easton and secured alongside John’s houseboat. We planned to stay the week to visit and to wait out the heat wave. Temperatures were predicted to be near 100 for the middle of the week. Staying with John, we could enjoy full-time air conditioning for a change while on shore power. The weather was supposed to improve with cooler temperatures later in the week.

Most of the week was spent visiting John and hiding from the heat. John had business out of town for a few days, so we could borrow his truck to go out for a nice dinner as it was our “Birthaversary” This was both our birthdays and anniversary combined. We were able to dodge the afternoon thunderstorms and had a nice seafood dinner in downtown Easton.

By Thursday evening, a front was pushing through, dropping temps dramatically. Friday was actually cold and rainy. At least it felt cold after a couple of weeks of hot and sticky weather. We figured we would wait one more day for the weather to get nicer before heading on again. John had left for a trip to Boston to help a fellow boater with a project boat, so we planned to leave as soon as the weather would allow.
We had planned to leave Saturday morning; however; it was not meant to be. Although the weather was glorious with cooler temps and lower humidity, the boat was apparently not ready to go. I woke up in the morning to the water pump running without pumping water. This pump had been acting up since it ran dry for a while when we first got underway. I figured it was time for a replacement, and as we had transportation while at John’s place, I could run down to West Marine to get a new pump.
The pump replacement did not take too long, but by the time we got the pump, returned it because it was missing parts from the box, got another one, and installed it, it was past noon. A bit late to be getting underway. One more day here was not a problem, so we relaxed, got some work done and got ready to leave in the morning.
On Sunday, I got up and got ready to head out when I noticed John’s car in the parking lot. He had returned earlier than I had expected We decided to stay one more day to have a bit more time to visit. It was nice to have a little extra time to hang out and got to have him aboard for dinner. It is always fun to catch up with old friends, John and I have known each other for more than 30 years but do not get to see each other very often. Although catching up was great it was really time to get moving, so we planned on heading out early Monday morning.
